Contrast can also now be adjusted through a new local Laplacian filter, a new module that allows photo editors to adjust the detail, highlights, shadows, and mid-tones separately.Ī number of other changes allow more control over colors, including support for channel blend modes while using the RGB or Lab color spaces. The contrast slider also has a wider range, developers said, and for local adjustments, a mid-tones option was added. Working with this program may take some time, but the robust set of tools is a pleasant surprise considering this is a free tool. The latest version includes a haze removal tool that can help remove fog and similar distractions. It also offers nondestructive edits like some alternatives, preserving the original image if you need it.
